The Quinn Red Blend was inspired by a local 7 year-old girl who is battling Cystic Fibrosis (CF). Quinn was diagnosed at 8 days old with CF, which is a rare genetic disease affecting just 30,000 people nationwide. Cystic fibrosis is a progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time.
In people with CF, a defective gene causes a thick, buildup of mucus in the lungs, pancreas and other organs. In the lungs, the mucus clogs the airways and traps bacteria leading to infections, extensive lung damage and eventually, respiratory failure. In the pancreas, the mucus prevents the release of digestive enzymes that allow the body to break down food and absorb vital nutrients.*
Currently there is no cure for CF. We were inspired to help raise awareness and funds for a cure while attending a Great Strides event and walking with team "All in for Quinn". A portion of the proceeds of the Quinn Red Blend will be donated to team "All in for Quinn" which supports the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The CFF is focused on funding research for potentially live saving therapies and hopefully one day to develop a cure for the disease itself.
